Do you know that in the middle of Texas there is a German wine country? Fredericksburg is the perfect quick girls weekend! Just an hour and a half west of Austin is this little oasis with dozens of wineries and tons of cute restaurants!
Things to do
- Shopping on Main Street
Fredericksburg has the cutest Main Street! They have tons of stores and food places. We also grabbed some ice cream at the popcorn store!
- Wineries
Go winery hopping. This is what Fredericksburg is known for! We really enjoyed Fat Ass Winery (get the watermelon and peach wine)
We also enjoyed Daus Peach House. They have a gorgeous outdoor sitting area and delicious samples of house made salsas, jam, honey and jelly!
- Enchanted Rock
This is a state park you can go to for $7 a person. Make sure you arrive early as they sell out of tickets fast! So get your hiking boots on and hike off all the wine you drank!
- Take photos in the lavender fields and Indian paintbrushes
Unfortunately we came too early for the lavender fields (they bloom starting in May) so we got to have a photo shoot in the Indian paintbrushes at the Wild Seed Farm. We had so much fun having a photo shoot!
- Explore the Fredericksburg Herb Garden
This was a beautiful garden with the cutest cottages you can rent for under $200 a night!
- Splurge at Magnolia Pearl
This is the cutest store that would be perfect to have a photo shoot in! But their clothing is SUPER expensive. Hello $350 overalls
Places to Eat
There is no shortage of food in Fredericksburg! You’ll find a lot of German food but there are also plenty of cafes, pizza shops, ect too!
- Fredericksburg Eatery
We loved their soft pretzel and cheese appetizer!
- Otto
Great German food!
- The Peach Tree
Perfect for brunch! Get the quiche
- Biergarten
This is another German restaurant that has nice outdoor seating with live music!
So what are you waiting for? Come visit. Fredericksburg and get a glass of peach wine for me!
